We Are Not Amused

Readers at the Guardian are spectacularly unimpressed by my essay on America's Ayn Rand revival. I knew I shoulda just reprinted my years-earlier discussion of what Ayn Rand can teach us about sex, or maybe my high school class notes from The Fountainhead.

And not made such a half-assed blog post, either.

Well, you got 322 comments over at The Guardian - that's not so shabby. At the least, you irritated a bunch of Lefties - British Lefties, too; nothing wrong with that. I thought about registering and commenting over there, but it would have been like sticking one's hand in an ant pile - one wouldn't know which stinging insects to swat first. I can not believe any or many of those commenters over there have actually read Rand's work. If they really have, then their reading comprehension is just abysmal. It's hard to believe anyone reading Rand thinks she would have been in favor of government bailouts and other favors for well-connected fat cats.

But, SASOB, that's the fun of life to stick your hand in an anthill :) I'm going to read over there (sometime...eventually..) and see what's up with it.

PS, what the hell kind of word is "puserebi" as a verification word???

In my life it is usually not my hand but my foot, and usually it is not an anthill but something a good deal squishier. :-)

Hm, Latin perhaps? ;-)
